Oh, the JOY!!

I finally finished the shawl! Thank goodness too. I was about tired of that thing getting bigger and bigger and bigger... Now I'm starting an afghan, my first one. I have only done two rows, but it is simply a repeat of 4 rows, so it shouldn't be too hard.

The yarn I'm using is a wonderful yarn, for the price. Caron Simply Soft in Victorian Rose (sigh). I will tell you what, it is my favorite yarn so far. It only costs about $2.00 a skein and although it is worsted weight yarn, it certainly doesn't feel like Red Heart. Red Heart is so hard on the fingers :-( but Simply Soft feels nice. In any case, I can't wait to do some more on my afghan.

I'll get out of your hair for a while, and make some more blanket, but I thought I would keep you updated.

Ciao (yeah like I'm Italian...whatever)

The Shawl

So I'm knitting a shawl...it is pretty and soft and nice...the problem is, I don't know how wide to make it. There isn't a pattern, per se...it is K5, YO, K across; K5, YO, Purl across. You alternate the rows for a stockinette stitch with a 5st garter stitch edge. So there really isn't a stopping point, just whenever you feel it is done. Well I don't feel it is done yet, but my circular needles are too short! So my question is this: can I get a circular needle that is more than 29" long? If anyone has any ideas, feel free to share with me. I want this shawl to be nice and wide enough for me. Thanks for your input.

The First Thing

Well, here goes nothing. My first blog! My favorite new pasttime is the wonderful art of knitting. Since I only started it a month ago, I haven't got the first clue how to do anything except knit and purl. But I managed to make my Christmas presents this year, and I will be making more for next year, you can bet on it! If anyone has any insight or patterns they want to share, or just want to talk about knitting, feel free to share with me. I'm still learning this lovely art, and I can't wait to learn more!
